African Palestinians
The African Palestinian community of 80 or more families live in a 500 year old updated Mamluk prison in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalems Old City. This is adjacent to the historic gold domed Noble Sanctuary and Al Aqsa Mosque. The community has a background of many generations to Eastern Sudan, Chad, Mali and other African countries. The Muslim Authorities of Jerusalem gave them the title “Guardians of the Mosque” and a community in proximity to the Great Mosque and dwellings in proximity. Click on any image to enlarge.
